The Governor’s Conference on Organizational Excellence is designed to convey to state agency and higher education institution leadership and board chairs the importance of improving the level of excellence for the state and each state organization. The program includes these major components:

 Leadership and Organizational Change
  Leadership and Public/Private Partnerships
 Recognizing Excellence:  The Texas Star Awards.

The conference will be held:

  Monday, November 26, 2001
  Texas State Capitol Extension Auditorium -  Auditorium Location Map  - Parking Location Map
  Registration begins at 8:00 AM and the program starts at 9:30 AM and concludes following an awards presentation by Governor Perry.

  Due to space considerations, Board Chairs, Heads of State Agencies and Institutions of Higher Education are invited. 
      (If the board chair cannot attend, they may designate another board member to represent them at the Conference.)

 Invitees are urged to travel light as they will have to enter one of the main doors of the Capitol Building and clear DPS security. Unless you havean electronic card you cannot use the elevators in the Capitol Extension. Bags, cell phones and laptop computers will likely be checked by security.

Security will no longer permit cars to drive around the Capitol; so people will have to walk across the Capitol grounds. Recommended parking is in the

State Parking Garage for Visitors at 12th and San Jacinto. The first two hours are free and the daily charge is $6.00. Conference materials and

morning refreshments will be available beginning at 8:30 a.m.
