[RETURN TO TOP] October 29, 2001 TO: Board Chair With the beginning of a new decade and new century, it is important to take the opportunity to anticipate and prepared for the challenges ahead for our great state. Working together, we have accomplished many improvements in state government that enable us to move every Texan forward. Creating and maintaining effective organizations and responding to the changing needs of Texans will be a critical duty for each of us in the months ahead. Following in the tradition of my predecessors, I ask each of you to join me in Austin on Monday, November 26 for the Governor's Conference on Organizational Excellence. I would appreciate your participation in a brief program (approximately 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.) to review how we might together make the next two years ones of significant achievement for all Texans. The conference will be held in the auditorium at the State Capital
